As a paid subscriber. I don't care if I ever get "exclusive content". I just want you to keep writing. A few bucks is the least I can do to ensure that. I'm trying to bring as many people out of the woodwork to fight on the political level as well. You're not just a cheerleader. You're also a muse.
Cheerleading is part of my mutual aid practice too. Thanks for pushing us all forward - I finally stopped spiraling and signed onto a couple mutual aid efforts. Better to do something imperfect than nothing at all. 🩷
"We're all we got, we're all we need" is my fav sports cheer because I love the W. And it's true. OK, we could also use some public health care but its a good thing to chant, anyways. <3
Thank you very much, Margaret, for this encouraging post. Here in Germany, there was a bitter decision for anti-fascists and migrants in parliament the day before yesterday: the right-wing conservative “Christian Democratic Union of Germany” (CDU) - the party of former Chancellor Angela Merkel - under the leadership of its chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz, passed a far-reaching decision against migration with the votes of the fascist “Alternative for Germany” (AfD). And that only 2 (!) hours after the “commemoration” of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp by the Red Army from the Hitler fascists. Imagine that.
Even if the bourgeoisie - including Merkel - are now shedding crocodile tears again: I, as a leftist who has not disappeared into obscurity all my life, can therefore very easily put myself in the shoes of your friend from Canada or many leftists and anti-fascists in North America...
Here is my translation of your post into German again, as a small contribution to a mutual exchange of ideas and experiences.
I'm a paid subscriber, like the others, not for exclusive content, but because I like your writing and message. "Why would anyone bother to hate us so much?" To boil it down, because they don't like being around *anyone* that's unlike them. Snowflakes, you might call it. Intolerant. I like the cheerleading. I'd like to have some way to be tapped into the resistance movements, as I'm old and don't GAF any more (which makes me very dangerous, as a human), don't have to worry about work and reputation. I'm worried about my kids and grandkids and will fight to the death for a better world for them.
I'm getting in line for "I'm happy to be a paid subscriber whether or not you do exclusive content ever again"
The woodwork is filled with the leaders of Antifa! Lol.
I appreciate your pep talks. I'm not good with words, but much of the time, what you write is what I'm trying to say. Especially the parts about hope. And the stuff about go bags.
Pep talks are so important -- especially for those of us who come from Christian fascist families and who are fighting this battle on seemingly every front! I'm so glad for the diversity of tactics and all the ways folks are figuring out how to be their true selves as one of the best ways to combat a totalitarian regime. Thanks for everything you do!
I'm trying to dig into my almost pathological hatred of being told what to do - if they want me scared and numb and frozen, fuck that. I'll be angry. I can work with angry.

y'all are so sweet! thank you!
Came here to say the exact same thing. We are so lucky that you share your writing with us all, and the more, the merrier.
Agreed, came here to say the same thing!
This!
Me five!? Thanks for sharing yourself with us. Happy to be able to support your efforts.
"The woodwork is full of good people." --not NOT a pep talk.
Thank you for the honesty & pov & eternal reminders of the inherent goodness of dogs and beloveds bearing both cupcakes and trust.

The battle is over, the war continues. I'm with Carson on the 'exclusive content' - I subscribed to help you keep writing. Onward!
