Solid article.

I think here of the film version of 1984. There's a quote that I'm paraphrasing. The bad tells Winston there really is a resistance. They spend their lives slowly trying to corrupt Big Brother's authoritarian society, fighting for a world they will never see. I also reflect on Ta-Nehisi Coates' Between the World and Me. He says there is dignity in struggle.

The story of the nihilist is interesting. In radical spaces there are always those selfish, arrogant people who love the aesthetics of revolution. They like being a revolutionary more than the cause. It's a very common, masculine form of wrecker. Something to be pushed out wherever it is found.

Anyway, great piece. I recently wrote one about World War II and how distortions of its history are a part of fascist mythmaking. It debunks a lot of common American misconceptions about the war. I thought as a fellow student of history you might be interested. If you have time let me know what you think.
