Appreciate the thoughtfulness! Where would you put invitation-only groups hosted by something like Discord on these lists?

Honestly I think discord meets what I would consider B world, at least for now (I think maybe they're in the process of selling?), but I haven't done enough research to say. It's not encrypted, but it's also not fed into algorithmic profiling as best as I can tell. I almost included it but realized I didn't have enough information to feel confident.

As a former ethical hacker (formerly ethical or formerly hacker or both?) and fellow substack prepper writer, I'd add that even when buying with cash, your easily traceable and identifiable mug is on countless cameras, all now within the purview of the government (yes, even private cameras). They know you bought those rounds at Cabelas even if you paid cash. Oh, you went to the local mom and pop privacy oriented gunshop? They can easily algo who's been visiting those shops by the now abundant plate readers (now on many police and other local, state, federal vehicles). We have lost this 1984 battle (e.g. the data Musk is getting to feed to AI is immense and invaluable), but do your best. Be a gray person in public. Bland non-identifiable clothing, hat, facemask. We need to form eco and inclusive villages where we have some control, as a last resort. Band together as a last stand, circle those covered wagons.

I think the horse has long left the barn on this topic. We have just come thru a period in which I lost friends I had though I would have for life, because I believed the wrong things. I doubt many would have hesitated to 'inform' on me to 'protect' others.

I don't use most social media, and tho any I do use do not contain my name or identity, but near everything I have said online can likely be traced to me. 'Ketman' in Czeslaw Milosz’s The Captive Mind, is a great read, but to pull that off, one would have to start very young, and be very good with technology.

Even using proton mail, etc, if you forgot to use a VPN, they would have to divulge your IP or more, by law. Something like threema might work well, unless someone gets your phone... Surveillance is ubiquitous and accepted. And even using some of these technologies just marks one as one with something to hide...

I think the only thing left is to learn and understand your values, speak them well, listen to others with a will to understand and perhaps change, and be your genuine self so that others may learn they are not alone, and perhaps speak as well. Attempt to find and act in solidarity with 'eneimies' wherever remotwly possible.

Would love to hear I am wrong, however...

I'd add that Meshtastic.org has promise as far as at least some form of backup secure comms. At least it doesn't depend on cellular or internet connection. I hope it grows in adoption, because Signal won't help when cell/internet are taken away or "encrypted" apps are thoroughly surveilled.

Thank you for writing this, It's very interesting. What is your opinion about written letters posted between two people? Would this be part of one's B-life?
